About Me & My Practice

I am a 36 year old stay-at-home wife and mother of three. I have a 14 y/o step-daughter, 8 y/o daughter and 7 y/o son, along with my crazy Miniature Schnauzer, Dragon. I am passionate about keeping my family, mainly my children, fit and making healthy decisions. Being in and out of the school system, I am well aware of the obesity problems in children. This a problem that can be fixed and it starts with parents, guardians, teachers, elders. If I can just help one person, no matter if they have a family or not, then I know I am making a difference for todays youth. I work hard as a Stay At Home Mom, managing my family and household. I strive to work out at least once a day. A sometimes, those workouts, mainly on my rest days, consist of me cleaning and organizing my house or tending to my yard. Stay active and eating healthy is one thing I know I have complete control over. I decide my future and my family’s future for a healthy long life. My kids now read food labels and know to stick to serving sizes. They understand that it is better to choose water over juice. We are not perfect, we have our cake and celebrate family events to the full extent. Being Greek & Italian, I know how to eat, entertain & party. But now I know how to do it without causing harm to my body and to the people around me. It is all about making healthy choices and dancing through life.

Now to really understand who I am and how I got here, this is My Story…

I am a former Pilot and Roller Girl who was always in shape! Even after having kids, I was lucky enough to be able to walk out of the hospital after having my babies where my regular size 2 jeans. I was an Independent Team Beachbody Coach in 2006, but had to put that on the back burner and it slipped away from me.

Well… that all changed when I injured my thumb (weird, I know, seeing I worked at the Apple Store part-time) at work and was out recovering from surgery. My weight went up only about 5 lbs or so, even though I was out of commission recovering from multiple casts and splints to correct it and finally surgery to repair a torn tendon that was not found until 5 months later.

After waiting a few months to heal and get clearance to go back to work and Roller Derby. I then decided to venture back to my job that is was then that my life changed forever. I was at a stopped at a red light, just moments after dropping my kids off at summer camp, when I was rear ended at 45 mph! My minivan was thrown into the car and front of me causing me to bounce of that vehicle and end up in the other lane. I was hit so hard that my hat came off, along with tightly tied Chuck Taylor’s. I ended up with a severe concussion, full body whiplash, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, displaced SI Joints, 2 sprain wrists, 2 sprained knees, twisted pelvis, and damaged discs in my spine.

July 28th, 2012 marks the 2nd anniversary of my accident. I have permanent brain and inner ear damage. My balance is off (basically, I would never pass a sobriety test even if I didn’t have a drop of alcohol in me), I constantly have black floaters in my eyes, ringing in my ears, dizziness, nausea, and severe migraines. That is all just my head. The whiplash destroyed all the muscles and fibers from my neck, shoulders, back, etc., so I constantly have major pain. My pelvis is still twisted (you can see in my before pictures how my right shoulder is down) and my movement is very limited in my hip. Because Doctors had moved me all around to all different specialists, my meds were constantly changing, I had numerous steroid injections and cervical epidurals to help endure the pain.
