About Me & My Practice

Peer Recovery Support Services are designed and provided by trained peers who have gained both lived experience and educational training in the process of addiction recovery and the wisdom of how to sustain that recovery. This non-clinical service works with doctors, therapists, sponsors and psychiatrists to support one’s recovery.

As a person in long-term recovery from alcohol and other drugs, Kelvin Young has walked a mile in your shoes.

Through hard work and community supports, Kelvin is now a state certified Addiction Recovery Coach/Recovery Support Specialist in Connecticut. Kelvin collaborates with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services on various community and program initiatives. Kelvin has spoken to several organizations about peer support, overcoming drug addictions and sustaining overall wellness.

Kelvin serves on the Board of Directors at Advocacy Unlimited , CT Turning to Youth and Families,serves on the Catchment Area Council for the Region II Regional Mental Health Board and The Greater Hartford Re-Entry Council.Kelvin is also the co-facilitator for "Successful Re-Entry:Connecting with the Person vs Judging the Offender" training at The Connecticut Women's Consortium.He is also an Ambassador for CT Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR)
